Warning - Email Scam Alert.
Please be vigilant. We have been told about a new email scam whereby you may receive an email telling you that you owe money to a (usually) British business, and that the sender of the email has been instructed to collect the money.
We have been told it will continue along the lines of “ we remind you that payment was due on xx/xx/xx but has not been received. Please find printable version of your invoice at the following link:”
A link then follows which is then itself followed by a statement that an original invoice will be sent to your name and address. The authorities do not at the moment seem to know how the scammers get your address details.
It is very important that you do not click on the link in such an email. If you do, malware will immediately download and will encrypt all the files on your computer in a very few seconds. If the computer is networked, as all the ones in the office are, the encryption will likely affect all the servers and possibly other users computers as well.
