Tim Kidd, Chief Executive of the ILFM, has announced that Richard Hill and Ian Johnson have been made Honorary Fellows of the Institute of Legal Finance & Management for their outstanding contribution to the legal profession.
It is with the greatest pleasure that Tim Kidd has awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the ILFM to both Richard and Ian on behalf of the Council and the wider Executive Team. Presentation of the award will be made at our Awards Lunch in February.
Honorary Fellowship is the highest accolade the ILFM can bestow:
“Awarded in recognition of outstanding contribution to promoting the objects of the Institute by driving innovation, education and in promoting excellence in finance, compliance and management throughout the legal sector.”

Richard and Ian have been on the ILFM Council for many years, both serving as Chair; Richard between 2012 and 2015, and Ian between September 2019 and November 2022.
Richard Hill has over 25 years’ experience working in legal practice operations, strategy, finance and business management. Richard is Operations Director at DMH Stallard.
Richard has been a member of the ILFM since 2005 and has sat on the ILFM Executive Council since 2007. Richard has previously authored and tutored the ILFM’s COFA training workshop and also the ILFM Cybercrime training. He co-wrote “The Route to Client Money”, a publication about Cyber Security for law firms.
Ian Johnson is a Partner with Hazlewoods LLP and advises law firms on the SRA Accounts Rules, financial and regulatory compliance, restructuring, internal management reporting, financial forecasting and taxation matters, as well as statutory accounting and audit issues.
Ian has spent 15 years as a Reporting Accountant and has considerable experience in advising a diverse pool of law firms. Ian lectures frequently on matters of financial management and compliance, and speaks at training courses and seminars for various organisations, including the ILFM.
Both Richard and Ian are regular contributors to Legal Abacus magazine as well as many other publications within the legal industry.
